Inspired by the Sherpa people and culture, we create purposeful, versatile adventure gear that feels great to wear, physically – and emotionally by providing life-changing opportunities in Nepal.

Our journey

At Sherpa Adventure Gear, our journey has always been rooted in purpose, shaped by the landscapes of Nepal and inspired by the communities who call them home. Sustainability, for us, is not a destination, but a path we are committed to walking with care, responsibility and respect. We are dedicated to building a clear, credible and practical sustainability journey, underpinned by robust documentation and continuous improvement across our business. As we develop our sustainability report, this marks an important step towards gaining a more transparent understanding of our impacts, responsibilities and opportunities.

We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing journey and we are committed to strengthening our approach over time through improved data, responsible decision-making and closer collaboration across our teams and supply chain partners. To support this, we are working with sustainability consultancy Litmus to enhance our reporting, refine our processes and guide the next phase of our ESG development.

We are proactively preparing for evolving regulatory and market expectations. This includes exploring a Digital Product Passport approach in anticipation of upcoming EU requirements under the Ecodesign for Sustainable Products Regulation, which came into force in July 2024 and identifies textiles and apparel as a priority sector for 2025–2030.

We have established Science Based Targets across Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 emissions. While these targets are not yet externally verified, they provide a clear framework for action. Through annual carbon footprint measurement, we are building a baseline to track progress, identify reduction opportunities and support more informed decision-making.

As part of our ongoing supply chain development, a significant proportion of our manufacturing has transitioned to Sree Santosh Garments (SSE) in India, a supplier operating on 100% renewable energy supported by wind power. This represents an important step towards lower-impact manufacturing.

Our partnership with Khangri in Nepal continues to play a key role in bringing culturally authentic design to life. Through local insight, craftsmanship and creativity, we are able to create products that reflect Nepal’s heritage while supporting skills development, economic opportunity and cultural expression within local communities.

Alongside these initiatives, we are strengthening the integrity of our sustainability documentation, certification records and product claims. Our goal is to ensure that the information we share is accurate, up to date and appropriately validated.

We are committed to communicating our progress with honesty and transparency, while continuing to improve the systems, standards and partnerships that support our long-term sustainability ambitions.
