I live in Minnesota and I keep my house cold to save energy, so I am always looking for clothes that are warm enough to make the transition from indoors to outdoors without changing. These are as comfortable as loungewear, warm as snow pants, and look terrific. They really out-performed my wildest expectations.
I have three pairs of the Kalpana, but wanted something for cooler weather. I thought these would be perfect. I wear a small in the Kalpana and instinctively ordered a small in the Dolma. They do NOT have the same fit. (I am 5'5" and 133 pounds) The waist on the dolma is much smaller and I had difficulty getting these on over my hips. The calves are also much tighter and I cannot fit a pair of socks underneath for layering. As mentioned in another review, the Dolma are tight behind the knee and bunch up a bit. The seaming and overall fit are very flattering. I wore them on a 3.5 mile walk in 30 degree windy weather and remained a perfect temperature. I love the fabric and the performance of these, but think I might have been happier in a medium. I am keeping the small, knowing that they fit a bit tighter than I prefer. If they had the same fit and two pockets like the Kalpana...they would have been a perfect 5 stars.
I love the fabric, the warmth and the feel of the tights. Unfortunately, they were not a good fit for my body. I am 5‘5” and about 145 lbs. I returned them for that reason.
Haven't had a lot of time with these yet, but noticed there weren't any reviews so wanted to give some thoughts. Overall really pleased/ excited about these. Plan to use them for dog walks and winter bike commuting in Alaska.
Pros: The fabric is cozy and thick, but still has plenty of stretch - because it is so thick it almost feels like neoprene to me, but I kind of like that; the fit in the waist and thighs is great...love that thick waist band (I am 5'5" and 125-130 lbs and have a size XS); stayed comfortable during a 45 min dog walk in 32 F
Cons: Because of how thick the fabric is, it definitely feels a little tight behind the knee, particularly when it bunches as your knee bends - the stretch of the fabric means this is not a deal breaker, but it is the reason why these only get four stars instead of five. They are also just a little longer than I would want - I prefer my leggings to hit right above the ankle and these go over the ankle.
Both pro and con: Most winter leggings I have had have zippers at the ankle/ partway up the calf, but these do not. This is a con because it means I won't be able to use them with my nordic ski boots as they won't fit over the top and with the thick fabric there is a little more fussing to get them on. This is a pro because when they are tucked into boots, there is no zipper pressing into your ankle (which I have experienced with other tights).
