Mingma Sherpa grew up in Khumjung, a small village town in Nepal. Mingma attended the Khumjung School, which was founded by Sir Edmund Hillary, the first person to summit Mount Everest, in 1961.
Mingma Sherpa has professionally guided and climbed for nearly one decade. He summited Everest two times, Island Peak five times, Lobutse Peak, Mera Peak, and Amadablam. As a guide, Mingma Sherpa has safely led hundreds of people on extreme alpine climbs in the Himalayas.
Today, Mingma Sherpa lives in Woodinville, Washington, and is Sherpa Adventure Gear’s sponsored Athlete and Gear Specialist. Mingma Sherpa is an exceptionally valuable employee and is responsible for testing and developing our gear by climbing in Mt. Rainier National Park under extreme conditions and a wide range of elements. Drawing on his extensive experience as an expert climber, Mingma Sherpa provides our gear design team with technical feedback about how to best serve the industry’s most elite climbers and athletes.
Mingma Sherpa is also an asset to our international company because he speaks English, Sherpa, Nepali, Tibetan, and Hindi.
