Soft Shell
When climbers first summited Everest, the clothing of choice was made from wool, gabardine and waxed cotton. Today you have a variety of options when it comes to staying comfortable in ever-changing mountain weather. One of the most versatile is the soft shell. Compared to a traditional hard shell, soft shells are warmer, softer, stretchier and more breathable. Most importantly, they work equally as well as outerwear in all but the hardest rain, or as a layering piece when conditions turn cold or nasty.
